Jesus was born in a manger because God knew we would be feeding on Him. This is not a Christmas story but a Christ story.
Step over into the other world with me for a little while and look at how God wants us to understand His world. A world where nothing is impossible for those who believe in Jesus Christ.
Just think about it! Our Lord, our King, the Lord of Lords was born in a place where animals come to feed, where sheep would feed.
God could have built a mansion for His Son to be born in. Yet, what is it about that birthplace that we are missing? Could it be that God knew that we would come to feed on His Son?
He knew from the beginning of time that His sheep would come and feed in the manger. Come and feed on Him.
Throughout the Bible He tells us to feed on Him, to drink from Him.
I Corinthians 11:24 Jesus says “Take eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me”.
There are a many reasons why God uses sheep to compare to His people.
Everything and every word that comes from the Bible is connected to each other in some way. So when you read, look for the connection. See the connections to other parts of the Bible.
Read the Bible through spiritual eyes; try to see how God covers these words with His Spirit.
When you see things in the natural happening, stop and look at it through Spiritual eyes, see how it’s connected or ask the Holy Spirit to show you the connection to God’s Spirit world. Start to look at this world through spiritual eyes, understanding how God wants us to move, act, look, talk and think in this world.
God knows we are in this world. But as believers we are not of this world. However, God uses the things in the natural world to teach us how we should see things in the Spiritual World. “For the ones who have eyes to see, let them see.”
That is what He means when He tells us in Jeremiah 5:21, “Hear this now, O foolish people, without understanding, who have eyes and see not, and who have ears and hear not.”
We are so trained to look at things with our natural eyes and understand things by what we see that we cannot see things the way God has intended for us to see them. God wants us to look at things though spiritual eyes.
“This is why we must renew our mind every day.”
(from the Amplified Bible) Ephesians 4:22-23, “Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old un-renewed self] which characterized your earlier way of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude].”
“Keep your mind open and your heart softened, so you may see and hear what God is trying to show us (in this world) each and every day.”
God Bless You
